5 easy walks to discover
1. Pont d’Espagne (easy round trip)
📍 Start: Pont d’Espagne car park (7 km from Cauterets)
🕒 Time: 15 to 20 minutes round trip
A must-do with the family! From the car park, a lovely walk leads to the Pont d’Espagne waterfall. The path is wide and stroller-friendly. Perfect for a gentle start with children.
2. Waterfall Trail (Chemin des Cascades)
📍 Start: La Raillère
🕒 Time: Flexible depending on motivation
This trail follows beautiful waterfalls all the way to Pont d’Espagne. Start from La Raillère and turn back whenever little legs get tired. In summer, the coolness from the waterfalls is especially enjoyable!
3. Lake Gaube (chairlift access + short walk)
📍 Start: Pont d’Espagne car park
🕒 Time: 20-minute walk after the chairlift
Take the Gaube chairlift (stroller-accessible from 1 year old, from May 14 2026) and reach one of the most beautiful lakes in the Pyrenees effortlessly. The trail is easy, and the arrival offers an incredible view of the Vignemale. Perfect for a picnic by the water!
4. La Raillère trail
📍 Start: behind the carousel
🕒 Time: 45 minutes round trip
This path follows the Gave gorge and leads to La Raillère. Accessible on foot, by car, or by shuttle, it offers a pleasant walk with a few ups and downs, but remains family-friendly.
5. Walk around the village
📍 Start: from your accommodation!

Stroll through the streets of Cauterets, admire the Belle Époque villas, footbridges, and parks. Perfect for days when you prefer to stay close to the center, or for a relaxing late afternoon.
Bonus : The Fruitière Valley
📍 Start: La Fruitière car park (7 km from Cauterets, accessible by car)
🕒 Time: Flexible walk from 30 minutes to 2 hours
Nestled in a preserved natural setting, the Fruitière Valley is an excellent starting point for a nature walk. An easy path follows the river, ideal for spotting birds, chamois, and marmots. Plenty of spots allow for picnics by the water, lulled by the sound of the stream.
